Educational innovation

Usewine

Some years ago, companies used to focus on the concept of value generation, considering only one perspective, the economic one: the results and the profit at the end of the period. This approach is completely outdated, no longer fits the realities of the new world order. This is why companies have realized, that they must addressed two sectors, which had been neglected and now have incalculable importance: these are the environmental and social, and this is where the concept of the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) fits in companies, and gives the opportunity to prove that the concept of sustainability is not a utopia or an impossible target. At the beginning, TBL was a market trend but now, it is a reality which is impossible to put aside.
TBL is a business framework that incorporates three dimensions of performance: social, environmental and financial. This differs from traditional reporting frameworks as it includes ecological and social measures, which can be difficult to assign appropriate means of measurement. The TBL dimensions are also commonly called the 3Ps: people, planet and profits.

This project will focus on the application of the TBL principles as a sustainability vehicle for the Wine SMEs in the rural areas. It will develop SME and stakeholder leaders who will have the competencies to promote and implement this business model.

UseWine brings innovation into the way SMEs must face their sustainability challenge.

Objective: The objective of the project is to achieve the transition of the Wine SMEs from a conventional business model to a model such as TBL which leads to sustainable growth. Working solely on the transition of the Wine SMEs would be a difficult task. In most occasions the surrounding economic environment and stakeholders positioning plays a decisive role.

Target group: the project addresses three target groups: local governments/regional authorities, Wine SMEs (including organised groups) and social and environmental groups.
